Dr. Skyhar is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon, in practice on the campus of Scripps Memorial Hospital since 1988. Fellowship trained in Sports Medicine and the treatment of knee and shoulder conditions, Dr. Skyhar’s practice concentration is the evaluation and treatment of shoulder and knee problems, as well as other sports related injuries. If surgery is required, advanced minimally invasive knee and shoulder surgery is the focus of the practice. If knee or shoulder replacement is needed, appropriate referrals to very competent specialists will be provided.
Surgeons generally enjoy their time in the operating theater. However, in this practice more time is spent seeking alternative treatments to surgical intervention. All types of alternative treatments are embraced and suggested. With experience comes (among other advantages) the knowledge of when NOT to operate.
Unfortunately under some circumstances surgery is the most sensible option. Surgeon experience ensures the correct choice of surgical options and techniques that optimize outcomes.
